THE £16 billion Crossrail project has been given the green light by the Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
South Essex commuters have welcomed the cross-London scheme as a financial deal between the Government and private sector was finally agreed.
Southend Rail Travellers' Association say the link between east and west London is definitely needed and will benefit commuters getting to and around the capital.
