Bingham smashed in China Open

BASILDON snooker professional Stuart Bingham has been dumped out of the Honghe Industrial China Open by fellow Essex player Ali Carter.

Bingham lost 5-3 to the Tiptree professional at the Beijing Students University Stadium, hitting his chances of qualifying for next season's coveted top-16.

Bingham will now prepare for next month's 888.com World Championship at Sheffield's Crucible Theatre.

The 31-year-old, who has qualified for snooker's biggest event for the second time in his career, will take on another Essex player, Steve Davis, in his opening round match.

Carter will take on Mark Allen in the second round.
