Updated: Three police cars in A127 smash
 |
| Picture by ASHLEY MOORE |
THREE police cars were involved in a crash which closed the A127.
Officers spotted a black Ford Focus, which had been reported stolen from Kent, and were following it along the London-bound carriageway of the road, when the smash happened just past the Rayleigh Weir.
The Focus was brought to a stop by officers, when it collided with the police cars.
Two officers suffered whiplash.
One officer was taken to Southend Hospital for treatment and later released.
The carriageway was closed for about two hours, while officers from the Rayleigh Road Policing Unit, investigated the scene and recovered the cars.
Photographer Ashley Moore was driving home to Thundersley on the A127 as police started closing off the Rayleigh Weir underpass.
He said: "I didn't see what happened, but it was pretty clear the police had boxed the car in and forced it to stop."
* A teenager has admitted driving a car involved in the crash.
Ashton Sutcliffe, 19, of no fixed address, appeared before Southend Magistrates' Court and pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking and driving with no insurance or a licence.
Sutcliffe admitted stealing a black Ford Focus from an address in Kent.
A 17-year-old from Langdon Hills, Basildon, who was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking, has been released without charge.

i wounder if pitsea police officers feel dumb now, after pulling him over for being reported of dangerous driving, and not doing a back ground check on him. and to make if worse, at one point my family felt sorry for him and gave him a chance.

Looking at this from another angle we are always being told by the Govt that vehicles in the wrong hands are a deadly weapon.
Lets see if the Courts treat this defendant as a man with a deadly weapon in his hands (THE VAN)and give him a minimum of 5 years?
My fear is he will get a normal non deterrent sentence of 6 months really meaning 3 months!!

More innacurate reporting by the Echo.
3 police cars in A127 smash.
Errr??
Quite obviously from the picture this is a TPAC. Where the police vehicles will box in a suspect vehicle and bring it to a safe stop. Because of the manner of the above operation, damage to police vehicles is inevitable.
It is hardly a 'smash', it is a rarely used police tactic that uses great driving skill and guts.
Full respect to the brave officers, hope to see you back out ridding our roads of scum soon.

This Ashley bloke sounds like a star in the making. Can I have his autograph? No seriously folks let's be honest. The courts aren't in the business of hurting little darlings like Ashley are they? Poor lamb, his yuman rights etc. Had a bad upbringing. I hope if anyone nicks my motor they wrap it around a lampost and hit a tree and bugger off into another dimension pretty fast.

Sorry readers I meant Ashton. I had the name of the photographer in my head and his name was Ashley. But one further point. What's a No Fixed Address? Everyone lives somewhere so where does this bloke live, in a field?

Im sorry but what on earth is "ldc, essex" on about?!
This has nothing to do with police capability, they were doing their job, stopping an illegal driver potential killing someone! I'd love to see what they'd say if the offender ran over a relative of theirs, what would be their argument there?! Probably the police didnt do enough.
And as for beating up suspects - who are you kidding! It is necessary force to bring a suspect under control/arrest - why would you resist in the first place if innocent? Think some poeple need to get a grip and see society for what it really is

To the rest of the world, it's a 3 police car crash on the A127.

Can't do job properly = Debatable
Bitten by own dog = Sore, but funny... Yes

It never ceases to amaze me just how much restraint the police show when dealing with the foul-mouthed disrespectful youth of today. More tazers to the police I say!!

Ive read all of the comments made with interest,it was my friend and her family who took ashton in when his mum asked him to leave. between her and the rest of the family they treated him both love and respect knowing of "his story". My friend has m.s. and angina and the things that this lad has done has led to many tears and heartache. the final straw after getting him a job he stole the collection box for the family of a staff memeber who recently lost her battle against cancer, having spoke to her since this has happened she still feels compassion for him why i dont know but she still feels without someone to sort this lad out he will be back on drugs and/or be in and out of youth offending centres then prison all his life why she still cares i dont know but she does.

I know Ashton better than most and i know all the sides of the story of his life. my opinion of the boy (not man, men show some measure of maturity) is that he is a thorough waste of good skin. he likes to tell he police that he is homeless because he thinks that they will go easier on him. he came out of prison recently, but because he has crapped from a great height on everyone in thurrock (both parents and friends) he was released to his grandparents house in kent. He has however now stolen a grand from them so they have kicked him out. Ashton will be an irresponsible child no matter how old he is.
People beware, Ashton Sutcliffe will worm his way into your life and then rob you blind with an angelic "who me" look on his face. Make no mistake, he will bite the hand that feeds him.
Ashton, if you get to read this, and if you have the brain power to work out who this is then perhaps you should give me a call, cause one way or the other we will be meeting again.

Hi Ash, Nice to see that you have taken the time to respond to your fan mail. Just because you didnt plead guilty to stealing the car doesnt make you innocent of that. Lets take a minute to try and work out where and how you got the car. Did you buy it.....dont think so, you would need money for that and probably a job so thats you right out there then. Were you given the car.....dont think so, you have robbed blind everyone who ever loved you so no chance of a gift then. Did you win the car.....dont think so, that implies a competition of some kind which would need some level of intelligence which you clearly dont possess. Did you find the car.....Let me see now, where did i put my car, i've checked all my pockets and looked in all the usual places but i seem to have lost my car. I hope that some well meaning citizen finds it for me and hands it in, (perhaps like a lost dog or something), Dont think so. Did you steal the car.....Bingo we have a winner, No License, No Insurance, No Brain, Go straight to jail, do not pass go do not collect £200.

ok people we have now establish this lad cant be trusted, next thing im asking myself is what person in there right mind would let him stay with them now ? cos it seems no one family or friends can trust him not to rip them off, and it must only be a matter of time till that knock on the door happens and probley you have made the call to the police yourself. I only hope whoever his next victim is doesnt lose to much.after all you worked hard for the things you have. he doesnt!!!!!!!!!!

Leave no stone unturned, for under the stone you will find a horrible little slug.
Hi Ash (yes you probably r), how r u doin? (sorry, but i cant do text speak, will english do?)
I was out earlier tonight walking my dog when who do i see, Ashton Sutcliffe looking at me.
looking all flash in another persons car, if you start driving now you could get quite far.
You could leave all the people that hate you behind, so bugger off now we really wont mind.
Its wasters like you that make life so hard, for you the jail gate is coming you hapless retard.
you're giving it large round corringham town, but we'll have the last laugh when you go down.
There wont be any but's or when's or an if, cause we'll soon say goodbye to Ashton Sutcliffe.
Poetry was never my strong point (do you think i could make a living with it), perhaps not.
Ashton beware, big brother is watching you, (yes you) over there in the car park near corringham police station with all you boy mates. Thats a good point, why is it that whenever i see you around town (usually in someone elses car) all of the people with you are a lot younger than you? Are people your own age too quick to catch you out, and see you for what you are? Cause you know what you are dont you???
I can see you right now from my window, big up yourself, your 8 by 4 hotel room is waiting for you sir. Can i take your bags sir, sorry sir but room service is not available for the next 6 months and the cable tv is out as well. HAVE A NICE DAY.
All of the others on this news page say that they know you, but i really know you, big brother is watching YOU.

Dumb I am not, if I say where I can see him from then he will know where to see me from, even the most brainless person in the world (Ashton Sutcliffe) can throw a brick through a window, so nice try but no, information is given on a need to know basis, and you dont need to know.
But i would say that he is to be seen most evenings "appearing on a street near you".
The problem with all of this is to be compared with rolling a football down a hill, its quite exciting at first as it gathers speed and pace, then it slows down and eventually gets quite boring until it finally stops at the bottom.
Ashton mate, your at the bottom now and i'm quite bored.
PS: esactly has a x in it exactly...

It appears that this young man needs to be taken off our streets, maybe one of his friends who are housing/protecting him should know that a quick confidental call to crime stoppers will not only net you some cash benefits which in this day and age is always handy would also do us all a favor. From what ive been reading this man has no respect for anything or anybody,And it's in cases like this that National service should be compulsary.

AS i look down from my lofty position, i do so with some sense of relief at the fact that this episode is losing its momentum (as the Ashton Unappreciation Society says with his football reference above).
I have watched and read as this news page has chundered along and i cant help thinking that perhaps we have made things worse. Dont get me wrong, Sutcliffe is certainly a little sh*t who has no rightful place in modern society and should be locked up immedietly for the protection of us all. I feel that everyone has made things worse (bigged him up, swelled his head and his pathetic ego).
the best thing we can all do is turn our backs on him and this news page. It is quite evident that he will be locked up soon and that that is the best place for him.
Let sleeping dogs lie, woof woof Ashton, disappear up your own anus as fast as possible please, and leave all of us good and normal folk alone to live the rest of our lives in peace without you to nause it up for us.

the court appearence was for the a127 incident, but the info is on the basildon court records, for everyone to see, hopefully when he goes back to court in may(date on court records) they will keep him. so if hes done anything to you or your family it needs to be on record not hear say. make it official. so for all those who have had contact with him and things have gone missing they really should contact the police and make it known what has happened, put it on record make it official. the more they have on him the longer hes kept off our streets, so for all those whos sheds hes has slept in, check to see if theres anything gone because there WILL BE and then make the call.

If you have been a victim then maybe you should go to the authorites and make a statement to that effect, im very sure they would like to know.

Bit more complicated than that the authorities would not be able to do anything because there is no proof but we know it was him someone he knows has already admitted to taking part in it with him but dont worry he wont be getting away

well all i can say is for all those who have unfortunatly been robbed by this boy maybe should turn up on the 19th to make there feelings known... then lets see what happens, the court will be full so people ring the court on the 18th and check the time for his case. ps see you there i'll save you a seat

like I said its bit more complicated than that, have spoken to police they have even taken prints but too many on top of each other to get a clear print so I have no proof.

i do know the feeling had the same thing...but on saying that at least they have a name that keeps cropping up, and sooner or later there will be something that connects the dots. the more the police know the more the dots are joined.

Yeah I totally agree just annoying when you know yourself who it is but you dont have 100% proof. Can believe he is still hanging around with so many people after him he must be brain dead.
