Pedestrian in serious condition

A MAN is in a serious condition after he was knocked down by a black BMW last night.

The accident happened on High Road, Benfleet, near to the junction with Vicarage Hill just before 11.30pm.

The 45-year-old man from Benfleet was taken to Southend General Hospital.

The BMW, driven by a 28-year-old man from Canvey, was travelling towards Benfleet.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them on 01268 798122.
