A FIFTH person has been arrested as part of an attempted murder probe after a teenager was left with potentially life-changing injuries.

Essex Police says a 16-year-old boy from Southend has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 19-year-old woman was found injured at St Marys Court, off Victoria Avenue, Southend, just before 4am on Monday.

He has since been released on bail until July 18, the force said.

Three men and a woman were arrested earlier this week on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent and have all since been released on bail.

A police spokesman said: “Inquiries remain ongoing within Essex Police’s serious crime directorate and detectives are continuing to appeal for the public’s support with the investigation.”
